Discovering Chinese Opera: Gongs and Drums 戲曲大探索：鑼鼓響

戲曲學院於本學期《鑼鼓響》為觀眾帶來三齣風格各異的粵劇選段，向觀眾呈獻音樂和表演專修學生共同努力的學習成果。《英烈劍中劍》之〈打店〉展示精彩刺激的粵劇武打功架；《玉簪記》之〈偷詩〉改編自崑劇，敘述書生潘必正與尼姑陳妙嫦的秘密訂情；傳統粵劇《平貴別窰》則由著名戲曲導演劉洵執導，表現細膩的粵劇做功。

觀眾將欣賞由戲曲學院製作《鑼鼓響》的舞台總綵排。

The School of Chinese Opera is delighted to present three Cantonese opera excerpts of contrasting styles and performance techniques in Gongs and Drums. 'Lodging at the inn' from The Sword of the Valiant demonstrates brilliant and exciting martial art of Cantonese opera.  Adapted from Kunqu opera, ‘Stealing the verse’ from The Romance of the Jade Hairpin depicts the secret romantic engagement of Pan Bizheng, the scholar, and Chen Miaochang, the nun. Directed by the famous Xiqu director Lau Shun, the traditional Cantonese opera work Ping Gui Bids Farewell features delicate acting skills and traditional performance techniques. Gongs and Drums performance series brings enjoyable performances by students from the music and performance streams to the audience.

Participants will watch the Dress Rehearsal of an Academy Chinese Opera production.
