Young Friends of the Academy
Young Friends of the Academy is an arts education and audience development programme of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) targeting secondary school students. Youngsters who enroll as members will enjoy valuable opportunities of attending performances, rehearsals and workshops, as well as expert talks and backstage tour for free. Details will be announced in due course, so please register now to receive our latest news!
This programme is delivered by the Student Recruitment and Community Engagement Office of HKAPA.
Mission and Goals of Young Friends
Inspire the youth to develop a broader interest in the performing arts and culture, and appreciate the relationship of the performing arts to the wider world around them.
By embracing the performing arts, we encourage young people to:
Enrich their knowledge and broaden their horizon through experience in the performing arts
Uncover their artistic potential
Capitalise on performing arts education conducive to personal and social growth
If you study in a local secondary school now, you are eligible to apply for Young Friends of the Academy membership. Once we receive your application, we will be in touch with you via email as soon as possible to confirm your membership.
If you are a teacher, we encourage you to help form a group of students to join as Young Friends members. Please download the registration form here, and email to once you complete it.
Benefits of Young Friends
Once you become a Member, you will receive all news on activities of Young Friends of the Academy. You can join as many activities as you wish. You will also be offered discounts at some stores or restaurant upon presentation of a valid e-membership card.
The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts
The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, established by Government Ordinance in 1984, is a leading tertiary institution in performing arts in Asia. It provides professional and practice-based diploma, advanced diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate studies. The study encompasses Chinese Opera, Dance, Drama, Film and Television, Music, and Theatre and Entertainment Arts. Its educational philosophy reflects the cultural diversity of Hong Kong with an emphasis on Chinese and Western traditions, and interdisciplinary learning.
香港演藝學院於 1984 年依據香港政府條例成立，是亞洲首屈一指的表演藝術高等學府，提供實踐為本的文憑、高級文憑、學士及碩士課程，學習範疇包括中國戲曲、舞蹈、戲劇、電影電視、音樂、舞台及製作藝術。學院的教育方針著重反映香港的多元文化，中西兼容，更提倡跨學科學習。
